Who we are
Schools Financial Services (SFS) are a team of 50+ staff responsible for collecting Kent maintained schools information including 3 Year Plans, Schools Financial Value Standard (SFVS), monitoring and closedown for the Local Authority and DfE requirements. In order to promote the accuracy and timely receipt of statutory returns, SFS provides a number of discretionary services, including the administration of corporate cards and bank accounts.
SFS also undertake compliance visits and support maintained schools to ensure they are financially well managed.
Alongside the statutory duties SFS provide a wide range of traded services for both maintained schools and academies. Our flexible tailored financial packages include a full bursarial service, a monthly returns and monitoring service, budget setting and short term adhoc cover. Our Core Financial Support Package includes our web based Budget Planning Software (BPS) which assists with budget planning and monitoring and salary reconciliations. Our experienced, knowledgeable and helpful staff answer telephone and email queries via a dedicated helpdesk throughout the school day. SFS also provides access to the latest school related financial advice and information.
SFS offer a full range of training solutions with a proven record of providing robust support and an excellent training provision including in-depth guidance notes. Training is provided for finance staff, headteachers, senior leaders and governors. Bespoke training is offered on a one to one or small group basis to meet individual school needs.
SFS are here to support schools before and during conversion to academy and beyond and our services will continue to evolve to meet the needs of academies in the future.
